Belted Kingfisher

Belted Kingfishers are found near almost any waterside habitat in the United States and Canada. Both males and females have a shaggy crest, but females can be identified by their bright rufous breast band. Kingfishers like to perch in trees and dive into the water to catch fish and amphibians. They build their nests by digging burrows into dirt banks beside water.
