Evening Grosbeaks are found in Canada and parts of the Western United States.  During winter months they venture into the Northern U.S.  They are often seen in noisy flocks, and feed on a variety of food.  Insects, sap, seeds, fruit and berries make up their diet.  Birdbaths may attract this bird to backyards, particularly during winter months when water is difficult to find.
