Smith's Longspur
70086

Smith's Longspurs are found near the Arctic Circle in the summer and in a small area of the U.S. Midwest in the winter.  Generally found in open, grassy areas, they are ground nesters.  Though humans may get quite close, flocks zig-zag into the air when startled.  Insects and seeds make up their diet.  This WatchList species is threatened by loss of habitat in its winter range.
